How long will my photo session take?

This will depend on what type of session (family, high school senior, personal branding, etc.)  and how many people are involved. Plan on 1.5 to 2 hours for a creative session with one to two people. If young children are involved we will provide additional time for breaks (bathroom, diaper changes, water, snacks, just resting/play, etc.) Please be assured that when you book your creative session, we will plan plenty of time together to create wonderful portraits. It is important to us that you never feel rushed in any way.

How far in advance do I need to schedule my session?

As soon as you know you want a session!   You will have more options to choose from with regard to dates and times if you plan ahead. If you have a deadline of some sort to meet, don’t wait until the last minute, get things scheduled as soon as possible. There is nothing worse than feeling rushed to get things done. Seniors wanting graduation invitations and announcements should schedule their session as soon after school starts in the fall as possible. While we can rush an order for these products it is best to have your session no later than mid-March.  This will allow plenty of time for ordering and receiving your products (and avoid rush fees).

Where will my session take place?

We are conveniently located in Frisco; easily accessed by all surrounding communities, including, Plano, Allen, Denton, Little Elm, The Colony, McKinney, Prosper, etc. via Hwy 121, the Dallas North Tollway, Hwy 75, or Hwy 380. Where we go will be up to you.

A “location session” can be held at your home, outdoors at an area park, or at another location that is special to you.  These sessions are much different than a studio session, being more candid, casual, and a fun way of telling your story.  Young children are often more comfortable in an environment familiar to them.  Pets can be included in our location sessions.  We encourage you to bring along that new car, boat, motorcycle, etc. as well.  For personal branding posed portraits we can bring a backdrop for a crisp clean look.

What about the session fee ?

The session fee is paid in advance when you book your session.  This is a non-refundable retainer to reserve your date and time. If you decide to cancel, we will refund your deposit only if we are able to fill that time slot with another client. We accept cash, checks, Venmo, Zelle, and most credit cards. Please make checks payable to Ahh! Photography and Studios.

What is your policy regarding rescheduling my session?

Due to the length of time that we spend with you or your children, we are only able to book a limited number of sessions per week. This is why we ask that you pay the retainer for your session when you book with us. Please be considerate with regards to rescheduling due to illness or emergency. We ask for 48 hours’ notice, if possible. However, we do realize that emergencies and illnesses happen, and are happy to work with you to find a better time for your session in those circumstances.

If you need to reschedule, your retainer will go towards your rescheduled session (provided it is within 3 months of the original session date). If you fail to reschedule your session within 3 months, you will forfeit your retainer. You are more than welcome to start over with a new retainer if you like.

This also applies to in-person presentation appointments.  We allow 1.5 hours per in-person presentation appointment. Please plan to be here at the scheduled time. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late we may have to reschedule in order to stay on schedule with our other clients. A courtesy call, informing us that you are running late is very much appreciated.

What can I expect at my Presentation Appointment?

At the end of your session, we will make an appointment for you to come back to the studio in 10 to 14 days for a very special Presentation Appointment.  At this appointment, you will view a slideshow, set to music, of your portraits (only one or two will be retouched as an example of what we will do with the images you choose to invest in).  We will assist you through the process of choosing your favorite images and placing your order. We ask that anyone important to the decision-making process be present at the appointment since this is when you will be placing your order. Plan ahead by thinking about where you will want to display your fine art portrait in your home. Will you be gifting portraits to family and friends? We ask for full payment at the time you place your order, however, we understand that this may not be feasible in all situations and we are willing to work out a payment plan if necessary.  We accept cash, most credit cards, Venmo, Zelle, or a check.

When will my order be ready?

You can expect your order to be ready for pick-up approximately 2-4 weeks after placing your order. Please allow for additional time for framed or hand-tinted artwork or during holiday rushes.

Do you shoot in color?

We shoot all our sessions in color however we sometimes feel our client will look their best when the image is converted to black and white.  Often we will present a portrait in both formats, letting our clients choose the one that appeals to them the most.  Please, if you have a preference let us know before your session.  We try to plan ahead for each session and the look you want can make a difference in how it is shot.

I don’t live in Texas, are you available to travel to another state for my session?

We are happy to discuss out-of-area location sessions.  We love to travel!  Please contact us to discuss your needs.
